Introducing Greubel Forsey Unveils The New GMT Balancier Convexe
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
MB&F, known for its innovative horological creations, has launched The Minimilians, a series of collectible figurines inspired by the various watches making up the MB&F collection as the iconic Horological and Legacy Machines. Since its inception in 2005, MB&F has developed over 20 different calibres in approximately 30 unique case shapes, each now represented by a corresponding Minimilian figurine.
These whimsical characters pay homage to a well-known member of the MB&F team. It seems that the name of these characters comes from the creative person behind MB&F, Maximilian, the company’s founder and director, with whom we had a wonderful interview. You can watch it here, and you can also hear it as a podcast from this link.
The collection includes characters such as Minimilian Frog, with its pop-out eyes; Minimilian Thunderbolt, exuding aviation vibes; and Minimilian Aquapod, featuring a chubby round face.
The Minimilians are a token of gratitude to The Tribe — the MB&F owners club — thanking them for their support in making the MB&F journey possible. Starting today, every MB&F watch registered with The Tribe, whether new or from the secondary market, entitles the owner to a matching Minimilian figurine for free. This offer extends to already registered watches, with around 1,600 existing registrations to accommodate. First deliveries are set for July 2024.
These tactile figurines are produced using a 3D-printing process followed by a white paint coating, giving them a textured, ceramic-like finish with an artisanal feel. This meticulous production process averages about 10 Minimilians per day.
MB&F, which stands for Maximilian Büsser & Friends, has created the Minimilians in collaboration with three long-standing Friends. Maximilian Maertens, the designer behind several of MB&F's clock and music box Co-Creations with L’Epée 1839 and Reuge, was responsible for designing the figurines. Aurélien Bouchet, head of AB Concept and AB Product, brought his expertise in case engineering and manufacturing, utilizing state-of-the-art 3D printing for the project. Finally, Olivier Berthon, who has crafted most of MB&F's watch boxes, designed the packaging, using high-quality foam to protect the Minimilians during shipping.
MB&F owners who haven't registered their watches with The Tribe can do so now. Registration is quick, and once completed, the corresponding Minimilian will be prepared and sent to its new home.
