A trio of limited-edition watches featuring fabric-inspired textured dials
The "Promenade" collection from Czapek emerged from the company's desire to create a truly elegant and modern watch. The collection was launched last year during the Watches and Wonders 2024 event, and Czapek considers it a canvas for creative expression, not just a timekeeping instrument. The collection was first introduced in three versions: one with a Grand Feu enamel dial and two with Guilloché patterns.
Now, the company presents the second addition to the Promenade collection, showcasing dials decorated with a new technique. These dials are formed under pressure, a method the company refers to as "stamping," to create designs inspired by fabrics. The "Plissé" dial is the result of a complex process involving several stages, giving the impression that the fabric has been pushed aside by the weight of the small seconds dial, gathering into pleats across the dial. This technique was developed in partnership with Czapek's long-time collaborator, the Swiss workshop "Metalem."
The new trio comes in a polished stainless steel case, retaining the same size as the previous editions, with a 38mm diameter and a slim height of only 10.8mm.
The case design is defined by recessed, sandblasted sides, curved crown protection, and a slim, rounded bezel. Sapphire crystal protects both sides of the case, which offers 50 meters of water resistance.
The dial is available in three distinct colors: ivory, a beige shade; pearl white, resembling silver; and a pink hue, all achieved through a galvanic treatment. The base of the dial is made of brass, stamped under pressure to create the exclusive and registered flinqué ‘Plissé’ pattern.
Unlike the previous edition, which had no indices, this model features applied indices, with a small seconds subdial positioned at 4:30. As always, the dials are created in collaboration with Metalem Atelier, the dial maker and long-term partner of Czapek, who have worked together on all the company's dials using various techniques.
Allowing the decoration to take center stage, the timekeeping indications are pared back to a minimum: fine, semiskeletonized arrow-shaped hands and applied indices with diamond-cut angles to reflect the light.
The movement remains the caliber SXH5.1, the same as used in the previous Promenade lineup. This caliber beats at 4Hz (28,800 vph) and is wound by a micro-rotor with a mass made of 100% recycled platinum. The SXH5 offers 60 hours of power reserve.
The trio comes with a Milanese mesh bracelet in stainless steel and an alternative Nubuck leather strap. Each edition is limited to only 18 pieces, priced at CHF 16,000, equivalent to 64,500 AED.
