A new edition showcasing the brand's rich heritage with a modern design
Vulcain continues to honor its rich heritage while embracing modern designs in its latest releases, introducing the Vulcain Grand Prix Small Second. This new addition to the renowned Grand Prix collection, which the company revived early last year, carries a distinctive charm that reflects Vulcain's strategy to celebrate its illustrious legacy dating back to 1858. We have previously discussed the brand's history and its significant contributions to watchmaking since its inception. You can read the full article about Vulcain's history here.
The elegant Grand Prix watch, first introduced in the 1960s to commemorate Vulcain's victory at the Barcelona International Exhibition in 1929, now returns in a new edition that combines the essence of that era with modern twist.
The 39mm polished 316L stainless steel case, measuring 12.7mm in thickness, exudes elegance and refinement. Its polished surface catches the light beautifully, accentuating the watch's sophisticated profile. A double-domed sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating, ensures optimal legibility from every angle, while the screw-down stainless steel case back provides a water resistance of up to 50 meters.
At the heart of this timepiece lies its most captivating feature, the verdant green dial. This deep, rich hue evokes a sense of classic sophistication. The sunburst, semi-glossy finish of the domed dial creates a dynamic play of light, further enhanced by the polished silver-toned hour indices and hands that stand out against the lush green backdrop.
A small seconds subdial, positioned at 6 o’clock, pays homage to Vulcain’s vintage designs from the 1950s and 1960s. Its recessed layout, adorned with a classic railroad track minute scale, adds depth and character to the dial, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal.
Powering the Grand Prix Small Second Green is the Landeron L24 Swiss automatic movement, which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of 40 hours.
The watch is paired with a brown leather strap, perfectly complementing its vintage-inspired design while ensuring a comfortable fit. A solid 316L stainless steel buckle secures the strap.
Joining Vulcain’s permanent collection, the Grand Prix Small Second Green is priced at USD 1,420 (approximately 5,600 AED),
