Celebrating the brand’s 250th anniversary with elegant releases
Urban Jürgensen is one of the oldest names in horology, a brand where Danish elegance meets Swiss precision. Founded by master watchmaker Jürgen Jürgensen, who once served the Danish Royal Court, the company was later shaped by his son Urban, whose horological journey took him to study under Breguet in Paris and Arnold in London. Over its 250-year history, the brand has played a pivotal role in the art of timekeeping.
Today, Urban Jürgensen operates under Co-CEOs Kari Voutilainen, one of independent watchmaking’s most celebrated artisans, and Alex Rosenfield, whose vision blends craftsmanship with cultural relevance. Together, they aim to usher in a new chapter for the brand. This year, to celebrate its 250th anniversary, Urban Jürgensen released the UJ-3 Perpetual, followed by two additional models, the UJ-1 Tourbillon and the UJ-2, a time-only watch.
UJ-1 Tourbillon

The UJ-1 Tourbillon is housed in a 39.5mm case crafted from 950 platinum or 5N rose gold, with a height of 12.2mm. Its stepped, brushed, and polished case middle and iconic teardrop lugs pay homage to the brand’s heritage, while the domed sapphire crystal enhances its vintage-inspired aesthetic. The caseback features a hand-guilloché Grain d’orge pattern and a sapphire exhibition window, revealing the intricate movement within.
The solid silver dial features a hand-guilloché Grain d’orge center and Clous de Paris small seconds at 6 o’clock, available in light silver or grey. Brushed chapter rings and precious metal appliqués mark the hours, while a fractional power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock ensures practicality. The dial is completed by heat-blued or rose gold-plated Jürgensen hands, including a sculptural small seconds hand.

At its heart lies the manual-winding Caliber UJ-1, an in-house movement featuring a one-minute flying tourbillon (visible through the caseback) and a remontoir d’égalité for constant-force precision. Operating at 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz), it offers a 47-hour power reserve. Paired with a hand-stitched alligator strap and matching pin buckle, the watch is limited to 75 pieces (25 per variant), priced at CHF 368,000, approximately AED 1,645,500.

UJ-2
Slightly smaller at 39mm and a slender 10.9mm thick, the UJ-2 shares the UJ-1’s platinum or rose gold case options, teardrop lugs, and stepped bezel with polished and brushed finishes. Its caseback also features guilloché decoration and a sapphire exhibition window, showcasing the meticulously finished movement.

The solid silver dial, available in light silver or blue, showcases guilloché patterns, Grain d’orge on the periphery and Clous de Paris on the small seconds subdial at 5 o’clock. Off-center Jürgensen hands in blued steel or rose gold plating glide over the dial, complemented by a fractional power reserve at 12 o’clock, all arranged with architectural precision.
Powered by the manual-winding Caliber UJ-2, the watch features Kari Voutilainen’s reinterpretation of Breguet’s natural escapement, a dual-wheel system that enhances efficiency and longevity. The movement operates at 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz) and offers a 52-hour power reserve.

The watch comes on a handmade alligator strap with a precious metal buckle and, unlike its tourbillon sibling, is not a limited edition. Priced at CHF 105,000, approximately AED 469,500.
