The New Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon in Steel

This year has been an exciting one for Jaeger-LeCoultre, especially after our enlightening visit to the "Precision Pioneer" exhibition at the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC). The exhibition beautifully showcased the brand's rich history, spotlighting its contributions to the world of horology. One of the most captivating releases we encountered was the stunning Master Grande Tradition Caliber 948 World-Timer

But the excitement didn’t end there. Jaeger-LeCoultre continues to push the boundaries in 2024, introducing the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon in steel. This follows the 18k pink gold model that debuted at Watches and Wonders Geneva in 2023, adding a fresh new chapter to the iconic Reverso lineup.

Introducing The New British Brand Anoma's First Watch, The A1

A triangular design inspired by the bold sculptures from the 1950s

A new brand has emerged to introduce its first watch, Anoma, which stands for anomaly and is inspired by the unconventional shape of the brand’s debut timepiece. Founded by Matteo Violet Vianello, Anoma channels his passion for watches into this new microbrand. Although not a watchmaker or designer by trade, Vianello brings experience from his time at the respected indie watch retailer A Collected Man.

The defining feature of the A1 is its shape. While round watches are generally the most familiar, and square or rectangular cases less common, triangular watches are an extremely rare sight.

The design of the A1 is inspired by bold creators from both within and outside the watch world, drawing influence from the modernist sculptures of Constantin Brâncusi to the undulating buildings of Oscar Niemeyer.

This triangular case measures 39mm x 38mm and is 9.45mm thick. It features an asymmetrical design made of stainless steel with mirror-polished surfaces. The case has no lugs; instead, the leather strap is integrated into the case through slender openings on either side. The crown is recessed into the case to maintain a sleek, streamlined silhouette and can be accessed via a cut-away area on the caseback. The solid caseback is secured by four screws.

Contrasting the soft and sweeping lines of the case, the brushed dial presents a more rigid aesthetic with thin, printed white indices and a crosshair spanning the blue expanse. The triangular theme of the case is echoed on the dial with three alternating surfaces of shades of blue. The darker area serves as the minutes track. Only two polished leaf hands are present, indicating the hours and minutes, with no running seconds hand.

The Anoma A1 is powered by the Sellita SW100 movement. Given the 39mm diameter and unique triangular shape of the watch, only a few movements would fit the available space. The SW100, typically used in women’s watches due to its compact size, is well-suited for this purpose. This automatic movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (VpH) and provides a power reserve of 38 hours.
