A new addition to the The Tonda PF Sport collection, with the first use of Cermet
The debut of a completely new material watchmaking is a rare event. But that doesn’t mean brands aren’t constantly experimenting behind the scenes. Years of quiet research and development have paved the way for breakthroughs like ceramic, carbon, and countless other high-tech innovations.
Just when it seemed like the material frontier had settled for now, Parmigiani Fleurier showed up at Watches and Wonders 2025 with a surprise reveal: the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet. A fusion of ceramic and metal, Cer- for ceramic, Met- for metal, this unique composite blends the lightness of titanium with the hardness of ceramic.
The watch’s case measures 42.5mm in diameter and 13.3mm in thickness, making it slightly larger than previous Tonda PF Sport models. Developed over three years, this proprietary material blends the hardness of ceramic with the ductility of metal, offering exceptional scratch resistance while remaining lightweight. The dark grey case comprises 72 components and features a mix of polished and brushed surfaces, a fluted bezel, and a screw-down crown that ensures 100 meters of water resistance.

The dial is available in either London Grey or Milano Blue sub-dials, set against a brushed blackor coating (a 9-carat gold-nickel deposit). Prioritizing legibility, it features 18k gold indices and delta-shaped skeleton hands coated with Super-LumiNova. The chronograph counters at 3 and 9 o’clock track 30-minute and 12-hour intervals, while a small seconds sub-dial is positioned at 6 o’clock.
Powering the watch is the in-house PF070 automatic chronograph movement, developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture. Operating at a high frequency of 36,000 vph (5Hz), it offers a 65-hour power reserve. The movement is COSC-certified and features a column wheel and vertical clutch mechanism, ensuring smooth chronograph operation. A skeletonized 22k rose gold rotor adds a luxurious finishing touch.
