Introducing New Lang & Heyne Anton Manufaktur Edition Tourbillon

Lang and Heyne, a German watchmaking brand founded in 2001 by Marco Lang and Mirko Heyne. The brand has etched its name into the annals of haute horlogerie as it continues to attract attention with its craftsmanship. Despite the changes in leadership, the indie watch brand thrives with its unique releases. Each timepiece carries the illustrious names of former dukes, and kings hailing from the Wettin house, a lineage deeply rooted in German nobility. These distinguished figures, who once wielded influence as historical rulers of the Saxon region, find a poignant tribute on tile mosaics gracing the historic center of Dresden, Germany—the very heart and birthplace of the brand. In this city of rich heritage, the watchmaker draws inspiration from the legacy of the Wettin house, seamlessly weaving the essence of royalty and history into each crafted watch.

The Lang & Heyne Georg was presented at Baselworld 2017 as the first rectangular watch by the brand. It featured a triple lug design and a clean, rectangular movement design. In 2018, and evolving from the Georg, the Lang & Heyne Anton was introduced, and it stands as a significant milestone, representing the manufacture's inaugural venture into tourbillon movements. This achievement is particularly noteworthy, considering its continuity in case design and the continued use of the Grand Feu white enamel dial. Enhancing its horological prowess, the Anton introduces a flying tourbillon movement, and it got its name from “Anton the Kind” a 19th-century ruler of Saxony.

This year, Lang & Heyne unveils The Anton Manufaktur Edition, which maintains its rectangular design, and the signature triple lugs that are Curved inward, this timepiece boasts a platinum case, remaining faithful in both size and structure with its predecessor, the case maintains dimensions of 40mm x 32mm, and a slim thickness of 9.4mm. It features a sapphire crystal on both the front and back, providing a clear view of the dial and intricate craftsmanship within. Its onion-style crown, adorned with a black onyx cabochon, adds a touch of elegance to the design. The raised crown guards not only contribute to the watch's aesthetic appeal but also offer protection to the distinctive crown. The caseband showcases an Art Deco-style, adding a unique texture to the watch. With a water resistance of 30 meters, this timepiece combines style and functionality.

The dial boasts a crafted dark gray sandblasted baseplate, providing a captivating backdrop to the black ceramic time display disc, that features Laser-engraved Roman numerals with precise lacquer print, with HyCeram (a hybrid ceramic/polymer compound) filled hands, and a semi open worked flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock with small seconds that is still indicated by a blued screw on the tourbillon, elevating the overall aesthetic and functionality of the timepiece.

The watch still houses the original in-house calibre IX featured in the "Anton." The rectangular-shaped hand-wound movement operates at 18,000 vph, boasting a power reserve of 55 hours. The movement comprises 17 jewels set in polished gold chatons, highlighting Lang & Heyne's dedication to both functionality and aesthetic refinement. Adding a touch of luxury, the calibre IX features two brilliant-cut diamonds and intricate hand-engraving. The watch is limited to 5 pieces and It comes with a black alligator strap with shark skin lining and a pin buckle, with a price of EUR 160,000 which is equivalent to AED 640,000.
