Breguet Celebrates the International Women's Day with feminine elegance
Abraham-Louis Breguet received esteemed recognition from France’s royal and aristocratic circles. He supplied luxurious pocket watches to prominent royal families and achieved a significant milestone in horology by crafting the inaugural wristwatch in 1811. This remarkable creation was promptly delivered to Caroline Murat, the Queen of Naples and the youngest sister of Napoleon Bonaparte, the former Emperor of France. Caroline Murat, a distinguished and intellectually accomplished figure, possessed a keen appreciation for the arts and was an avid collector. She held a particular affinity for Abraham-Louis Breguet's timepieces and assembled a collection of over 30 exquisite pieces.
In a departure from the prevailing fashion of wearing watches as sautoir necklaces, Caroline Murat boldly commissioned Breguet to create a wristwatch for her in 1810. This visionary request spurred Breguet to embark on the creation of an unparalleled timepiece, ultimately resulting in the world's first wristwatch. In 2002, following a thorough review of the brand's historical records, Breguet introduced a collection of women's watches named 'Reine de Naples,' translating to 'Queen of Naples' in French. The collection is characterized by its elegant and feminine design, featuring oval-shaped cases, showcasing Breguet's artistry and creativity in watchmaking.
Now, Breguet celebrates the International Women's Day with the introduction of a new iteration of its iconic collection. The Reine de Naples 8918, elegantly adorned in a beautiful fresh mint green hue for this special occasion. The watch comes in an elegant 18k white gold case with dimensions of 36.5 x 28.54mm and a thickness of 10.1mm. Accentuating its oval shape, the bezel and inner flange boast an array of 117 brilliant-cut diamonds, while a briolette-cut diamond adorns the off-centered crown at the 4 o'clock position.
The white mother-of-pearl dial blends seamlessly with the mint-green Breguet-style numerals elegantly. Positioned at the dial's center is a circle adorned with snow-set diamonds, encircled by a minute track featuring symbols reminiscent found on Breguet's pocket watches. Time is indicated by Breguet style open-tipped hands for hours and minutes. A prominent pear-shaped diamond shines at the 6 o'clock position, while the watch's unique serial number is showcased between 11 and 12 o'clock.

The watch is powered by the in-house caliber 537/3, an automatic movement that boasts a 45-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 25,200 vph (3.5Hz). The Reine de Naples 8918 is elegantly paired with a mint-green alligator strap, secured by a triple-folding buckle embellished with 28 diamonds.
