Introducing Löbner, The New Deutsch Brand, Presents its Debut Collection

Merging German craftsmanship and racing history, the Steelracer Chronograph

In 2023, LÖBNER is making its debut as a contemporary German luxury watch brand, exclusively available at BUCHERER. The brand draws its inspiration from an exceptional history of achieving world records and precise timekeeping in motor racing.

LÖBNER has its roots in an established German watch factory, founded in 1862 by Franz Ludwig Löbner. The company specialized in crafting portable short-time measurement instruments, capable of measuring time to 1/100th and 1/1000th of a second.

Using the expertise gained from their history in timing devices, Löbner introduces its inaugural collection. The Steelracer collection draws inspiration from the iconic racing cars of the 1920s and 30s, with a focus on creating a chronograph tailored for timing various events, particularly race cars. Manufactured partly in Germany and driven by Swiss movements, these watches are meticulously assembled in the Glashütte region. The collection comprises three references: two classic steel versions in blue and black, which form the permanent collection (Steelracer), and a limited edition of 50 black-out models (Rocketman)  took its inspiration from the world’s first rocket car programme – initiated in the 1920s by automotive pioneer Fritz von Opel.  Despite differences in colors and materials, these watches share identical technical specifications.

With a case measuring 42.5mm in diameter and 14.3mm in thickness. Crowning this case is a bezel adorned with an engraved tachymeter scale. The Steelracer models feature uncoated surfaces with both brushed and polished finishes, while the Rocketman boasts a black PVD coating with a small golden dot at 256 kph, paying homage to the Opel rocket car, "experimental vehicles built by the German automaker Opel in 1928." The case is encircled by anti-reflective sapphire crystals and boasts a comfortable 100m water-resistance rating. What truly distinguishes this case is the patented sledge crown protection on the side. The winding crown is positioned beneath a sliding element, preventing unintended time adjustments and safeguarding the crown from mechanical shocks. When closed, it seamlessly integrates with the watch's side for a cohesive look. traight-lined case design with integrated lugs and pushers.

The dial draws inspiration from old timing instruments and traditional German watchmaking, featuring a decentralized time indication. The hours, minutes, and small seconds find their place on a subsidial at 10 o’clock, each marked by gold-colored hands coated with Super Luminova. The rest of the dial is dedicated to measuring elapsed times, with a subdial for minutes counter at 3 o'clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock. An oversized central seconds chronograph hand allows speeds of between 60 and 600 kilometres per hour to be measured on the engraved tachymeter bezel.

The Löbner Steelracer chronograph is available in black or blue, both adorned with a sunray-brushed pattern. Meanwhile, the Rocketman boasts a matte black dial adorned with blued chronograph hands.

Under the sapphire back beats a movement by La Joux-Perret, a modified automatic Valjoux architecture driven by a column wheel. This base movement ticks at a 4Hz frequency and stores a 60h power reserve. More importantly, assembled by hand in Glashütte Germany.

The Löbner Steelracer are worn on an integrated steel bracelet closed by a folding clasp, while the limited 50-piece Rocketman comes with a black rubber strap with a folding clasp. These Löbner Chronographs are exclusively available in Bucherer stores. priced at EUR 13,800 which is equivalent to 53,500 AED for blue and black Steelracer,  or EUR 14,800 which is equivalent to 57,400 AED for Rocketman edition.
