Louis Erard is a Swiss watchmaking company with a rich history dating back to 1931. Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Throughout the decades, Louis Erard has upheld its tradition of fine Swiss watchmaking while adapting to the evolving tastes and technologies of the industry. The company has weathered the challenges of changing market landscapes, always staying true to its core values of craftsmanship, innovation. In recent years, Louis Erard has experienced a revitalization under the leadership of Manuel Emch, who became CEO in 2003. Emch's visionary approach has infused the brand with new energy, leading to the creation of innovative timepieces that marry traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics.
One of the most renowned timepieces from the company is their special collaborations with Vianney Halter, Seconde/Seconde, Label Noir, Konstantin Chaykin, and Alain Silberstein in recent years.
The partnership between Swiss watchmaker Louis Erard and French watch designer Alain Silberstein is a great testament to successful collaboration amid the challenges of today's luxury watch market. This cooperation, which began in 2019, and the publications continued after achieving distinguished results, as this is the fourth cooperation between them. Which was unveiled last October 2023, and gained interest among watch enthusiasts and collectors who were attracted to the distinctive geometric designs and vibrant colors. It is a delightful creation that seamlessly blends artistic flair with practical ease of wear.
Today, we have in our hands one of the best watches from this collaboration, the “La Soman” edition, the French word for the week, yes, a unique name for a unique watch. This wonderful watch was launched as a trilogy in October 2023. We were impressed even more after our meeting with Mr. Manuel Emich, where we discussed the future plans of the brand, and promised exciting releases and collaborations from Louis Erard. The unique design adopts a modern aesthetic, housed in a 40mm x 11.80mm case crafted from micro-blasted Grade 2 titanium. The case is framed by a vertical sidebar, known as the 'brancard,' made of polished Grade 5 titanium. The easy-to-use crown is flanked by a signature conical crown stamped with the Louis Erard symbol. The watch features a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. It sits perfectly on any wrist due to the lug design and the weight of the light titanium.
La Semaine Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Khaki features a Smiley weekly, Alain Silberstein's emblematic calendar where every day has its own face. In fact, the days do not have names, but rather playful smileys, stylized faces symbolizing different moods, Definitely the smiley face of the weekend, with a date window located at 6 o'clock. The special hands come in three different colors and shapes: a large white arrow for the minutes, a red hand for the hours, and a large yellow serpentine hand for the central seconds. The mix of colors is perfect, and you will enjoy reading the time on La Semaine once you get used to it, although the long minute hand can initially throw you off when reading the time at a glance.
La Semaine is powered by a customized automatic Sellita SW220-1 caliber that is visible through the transparent porthole of the case back. Running at a frequency of 28,800 VPH, it offers a 38-hour power reserve built by the special openworked oscillating weight with a black lacquered Louis Erard symbol.
The khaki straps, micro-blasted grade 2 titanium, and a hook-and-loop fastener system guarantee quick adjustments, complemented by functional catch-spring bars enabling rapid strap changes.
The watch is limited to 178 pieces only, is priced at 4,000 CFH which is equivalent to 16,500 AED. You can preorder the watch from the company website.
