A limited edition timepiece with a gray ceramic case inspired by rhinoceros skin
Hublot is recognized as one of the luxury watch brands, renowned for its innovative designs and unique blend of traditional and unconventional materials. Founded in 1980 by Carlo Crocco, and since then, the company made a name for itslef in the watchmaking industry.
In a demonstration of its commitment to environmental issues, Hublot has announced its partnership with SORAI, an organization founded by brand ambassador and former cricketer Kevin Pietersen. This initiative focuses specifically on the protection of rhinos from extinction, raising awareness about the threats faced by these creatures. Now, as a result of this fruitful collaboration, Hublot unveils “the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-day Power Reserve SORAI”, a symbol of Hublot’s dedication to innovation and ecological stewardship.
The barrel-shaped case, crafted from polished and micro-blasted “grey” ceramic to echo the hue of rhinoceros skin, has a diameter of 42mm and a thickness of 13.25mm. Topped with a black bezel secured by six screws, the SORAI-engraved sapphire crystal case back boasts an eight-screw bezel and a prominent black crown that complements the overall design.
The sapphire crystal dial reveals the movement's intricate components, including bridges, and the tourbillon. Positioned on the right side of the case is the main dial, where the hour and minute hands are located. Surrounding the dial are applied indicators accompanied by numbers. Notably, the indicator and number at 3 o’clock have been replaced by a rhinoceros, central to the watch’s theme and inspiration. Additionally, there’s a sub-dial at 8 o’clock that shows the power reserve. At 6 o’clock, the tourbillon is prominently displayed, taking the place of the indicators and numbers at 6, 7, and 8 o’clock.
The watch is equipped with Hublot's HUB6020 caliber hand-wound tourbillon movement, comprising 183 components, including 25 jewels. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz) and boasts an impressive power reserve of 115 hours.
It includes two straps: a grey fabric strap and a black rubber strap. This limited edition is made in just 30 pieces and is priced at CHF 100,000, equivalent to AED 440,000.
