Two distinctive editions exclusively for the European Market
Drawing Grand Seiko inspiration from various elements. One of the brand’s primary sources of inspiration is the enchanting nature of Japan, where the colors of the seasons and the interplay of light are beautifully reflected in its designs. Additionally, the deep cultural values of Japan are embodied in every detail of the watches, from traditional arts such as Shinshi to Zen philosophy-It is a popular meditation art in Japan-, which emphasizes simplicity and beauty. Furthermore, Grand Seiko adds an extra dimension by integrating traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation. Now, this fusion has led to the introduction of the Spring Drive SBGY040 and Mechanical SBGW321 watches, inspired by the shimmering scales of nishikigoi (Japanese carp) and the gentle ripples of a Japanese pond garden.” Available exclusively in Grand Seiko and European stores.
Spring Drive SBGY040 watch:
The SBGY040 features a luxurious 18k rose gold case measuring 38.5mm in diameter and 10.2mm thick, complemented by a box-shaped sapphire crystal that protects the dial and a caseback made of the same crystal, revealing the movement and its complications while offering a modest water resistance of 30 meters.
The dial features a dark blue color that mimics the gentle ripples on a pond's surface, inspired by traditional Japanese Wagara patterns. Its fine, textured design captures light beautifully, evoking tranquility and the artistry of Japanese gardens. Gold applied indices and dauphine hands enhance its elegance, along with a white printed minute track on the edge of the dial.
The SBGY040, featuring the 9R31 Spring Drive caliber, showcases a remarkable hand-wound movement that commemorates its 20th anniversary this year. Which we previously covered in a previous article on the ceremonial watch "Karasawa Watch". This innovative mechanism ensures precision, maintaining an accuracy of ±1 second per day, and includes a robust 72-hour power reserve, which can be monitored through an indicator visible via the transparent caseback. The SBGY040 movement exemplifies both elegance and technical mastery.
It comes with a blue crocodile leather strap with a rose gold pin buckle and it is a limited edition of 20 pieces, priced at EUR 31,100 (equivalent to AED 124,400).
Mechanical SBGW321 watch:

It is complete with a domed sapphire crystal and a stainless steel caseback that protects the movement, which is engraved with the Grand Seiko name and logo. With a robust water resistance rating of 100 meters, it blends timeless design with functionality.
The dial showcases a vivid red hue inspired by the shimmering scales of nishikigoi (Japanese carp). This dial features a radial snail pattern extending outward from the center, reflecting the iridescence of the fish's scales, with polished silver dauphine hands and applied steel indices, complemented by a gold seconds hand and a white printed minute track on the edge of the dial. Both dials celebrate intricate craftsmanship and symbolize the beauty and harmony found in Japanese nature.
