A Monochrome Design Highlighting the Elegance of Minimalist Time Display
Franck Muller introduces the Vanguard Monolith Slim, a collection where every detail is meticulously designed to embody mastered simplicity. Stripped of all but the essential function of time-telling, this new line marks a bold shift toward minimalism, without compromising the brand’s hallmark precision and craftsmanship. Each element serves a purpose, contributing to a refined aesthetic of purity and balance.
The collection debuts in four monochrome editions: luxurious 18k Rose Gold and 18k Yellow Gold, the versatile Stainless Steel, and the sleek, high-tech Ceramic. “Mono” represents the unity and coherence of design, where color and material become one, monochrome and monomaterial.
The Monolith Slim encased in the iconic Vanguard case instantly recognizable, yet subtly refined. Measuring 41mm in width and 49.95mm in length, its defining feature is its ultra-thin profile, just 9.1mm thick. This slenderness enhances the watch’s elegance and comfort on the wrist.
Each model features hand-brushed surfaces across the case and integrated bracelet, subtly contrasted with polished accents. All four editions offer a water resistance of 30 meters.
While initially understated, the dial reveals exceptional detail upon closer inspection. A stamped guilloché pattern radiates like sunrays beneath up to 25 layers of lacquer, producing a deep, lustrous finish. The brushed dial surface mirrors the case’s texture, reinforcing the collection’s monolithic design philosophy.
Franck Muller’s signature indices, each hand-painted and applied add a touch of dynamism. At 6 o’clock, a finely defined sub-dial displays the small seconds, introducing movement without disrupting the minimalist harmony. The engraved logo at 12 o’clock completes the layout with discreet elegance.
Powering the Monolith Slim is the automatic caliber MVT FM 708-S6, composed of 125 components. It delivers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours and operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz). With a diameter of 29.9mm and a thickness of just 3.73mm, the movement significantly contributes to the case’s svelte profile.
Through the sapphire crystal case back, the movement reveals its fine decoration, Côtes de Genève on the bridges and rotor, perlage on the mainplate, and additional hand-finishing techniques across various components.
Each edition comes with an integrated strap made of the same material as the case. Attached via two hidden screws, the strap merges seamlessly with the case, ensuring visual harmony and comfortable wear.
