The Italian brand expands the Labormatic collection while preserving its signature dial design
Gagà Laboratorio, the brand that debuted last year with the launch of the Labormatic collection, designed to merge Italian style with Swiss mechanical precision, returns with two striking new editions: Champagne and Azzurro. These models evoke the spirit of rebirth and cultural vibrancy that defined Italy in the 1950s and ’60s, offering a poetic reinterpretation of an iconic era in the country’s design history.
The Champagne edition stands in bold contrast to the minimalist principles of the existing Bauhaus model. While Bauhaus is clean, precise, and restrained, Champagne is luminous, expressive, and celebratory. Its warm, radiant tones challenge traditional codes of elegance with a spirited and playful character.
The Labormatic is described as a fusion of artistic sensibility and mechanical craftsmanship. The name itself draws from the Latin Labor, signifying not just “work,” but also effort, diligence, and enterprise, qualities that inform the philosophy behind the design.
Inspired by the stylistic lines and emotional tone of post-war Italian design, the Labormatic seamlessly blends sinuous, historically inspired forms with modern aesthetic sensibilities.
The new editions retain the distinctive case design of their predecessors, featuring a 42mm diameter and a thickness of 13.3mm. The stainless steel case—composed of seven parts—is brushed and polished to perfection, with its curved lugs as a standout feature. A double-domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, while a sapphire caseback offers a view of the movement within. Both editions feature a crown positioned at 12 o’clock, adorned with a steel cabochon.
The dial combines modernity and refinement, reflecting the unique identity of Gagà Laboratorio. The Azzurro edition features a domed blue dial with a white minute disc bearing Arabic numerals in burgundy. The minutes are displayed through a rotating blue window that replaces the traditional hand. In contrast, the Champagne edition presents a radiant golden dial with a mix of gold and black markers at the center, where the minutes are indicated by a black hand with a pointed tip.
The hours are displayed through a window at 12 o’clock, and both editions share the same color for the minute disc. The design is completed by a central seconds disc in gold, bearing the brand’s logo.
Inside, both timepieces are powered by the La Joux-Perret automatic caliber LJP G100, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with an impressive 68-hour power reserve. The bespoke openworked rotor, crafted for Gagà Laboratorio, is adorned with Côtes de Genève decoration, lending a refined finish to the movement plate beneath.
Each model is paired with a handcrafted Saffiano leather strap and secured by a stainless steel pin buckle. The price is set at CHF 3,900, approximately AED 17,500.
