Manual winding is a manual mechanism used to power watches by manually winding the crown. This mechanism is found in traditional mechanical watches.
When the watch needs power to operate or be reset, the crown is manually rotated by the user, which in turn winds and tightens the mainspring. The energy generated from manual winding is stored in the mainspring, which then transfers this energy to the internal mechanism of the watch to power its functions.
