The Most Anticipated Week in Watchmaking's Annual Calendar

The most significant event on the watchmaking calendar this year, Watches and Wonders 2024, is scheduled to run from 9 to 15 April 2024, at the PALEXPO, Geneva. This year's event holds great importance for companies and players in the field. The Watch & Wonders exhibition will not be alone, but rather there will be many events that are no less important. The Beau Rivage Hotel will bring together many independent companies under its roof to present to us their latest releases. and as confirmed by the “Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants” announced the third edition of “Masters of Horology”, an exclusive event showcasing more than 20 distinguished watchmaking experts. In this article, we have summarized for you all the notable events that will take place in Geneva this month.

Watches and Wonders

Watches and Wonders, formerly known as SIHH, has roots dating back to 1991 with the establishment of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH). Initially, FHH organized private exhibitions for select clients and industry insiders. In 1991, SIHH emerged in Geneva, offering an exclusive setting compared to Baselworld. Over time, SIHH grew into a premier event, showcasing the latest innovations and collections from prestigious watchmakers. In 2019, SIHH rebranded as Watches and Wonders Geneva, emphasizing its global reach and digital presence. Today, it remains a top event for luxury watch enthusiasts, featuring renowned brands and embracing digital platforms. Last year's 2023 edition featured 48 brands, spanning a full week with two public days.

For the 2024 edition of Watches and Wonders. The program has been substantially enhanced, with the Salon opening its doors to the general public for three days, from Saturday through Monday. Featuring new spaces, brands, and interactive experiences, not to mention the "In the City" initiative, which aims to immerse watchmaking within Geneva through guided tours, workshops, and in-store events.

A total of 54 brands will be exhibiting their latest timepieces. Alongside industry giants like Rolex, Patek Philippe, Richemont, and LVMH brands, several newcomers will join Watches and Wonders. Below is the comprehensive list of participating brands:

New for 2024, the public can now register for product presentations in small groups to gain an up-close look at these timepieces and delve into their intricate complications. Additionally, the Salon will offer exclusive guided tours led by expert watchmakers. 

Over the weekend, the newly launched Auditorium will be the venue for a carefully curated program of 10 watchmaking conferences, covering a diverse array of topics.

Beyond the confines of the event venue, in the heart of Geneva, the "In The City" program will host cultural and educational activities related to watchmaking in the new Village Horloger on the Pont de la Machine, free of charge. The evening event on Thursday, April 11th, open to all.

TIME TO WATCHES  APRIL 10-14 GENEVA

The third edition of Time to Watches is back! Established in 2022, this watch event is situated conveniently between Watches and Wonders at Palexpo and Geneva’s lakeside hotels. This year, the event will take place at HEAD – Genève (Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design) from April 10th to 14th. With over 50 exhibiting brands, Time to Watches, hosted at HEAD, partners with the Geneva School of Art and Design. While primarily dedicated to rising brands, Importantly, the event is not exclusive to professionals and is open to the public.

In 2023, the event brought together 55 brands and attracted 5,800 visitors, fostering a vibrant atmosphere with a festive program of conferences and open discussions led by sixty experts from diverse backgrounds. The final day featured Watch&Match, allowing 31 brands to directly sell their timepieces to visitors.

Hotel Beau-Rivage

Similar to the Geneva Watch Days held in late August, the Hotel Beau-Rivage has emerged as a focal point for independent brands. The roster of brands showcasing their products at this venue includes:

AHCI Masters of Horology 

The Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI) presents the third edition of Masters of Horology, an exclusive event showcasing over 20 esteemed masters of clock and watchmaking from around the world. Set to occur from April 9-14 at the L’iceBergues Exhibition Centre Place des Bergues, 3, this gathering offers enthusiasts a rare chance to interact directly with the visionary creators behind these exceptional timepieces. Attendees will engage in insightful conversations with the masters, gaining valuable insights into their techniques and inspirations. Alongside the exhibition, tailored soirées promise an immersive and refined experience, complementing the elegance of the timepieces on display.
