Innovation Meets Tradition, A Unique Diagonal Regulator Layout
Louis Erard and Vianney Halter unveil their second collaboration. Both independent companies share philosophies that complement each other, which is what makes this watch so special. Louis Erard showcases its expertise in regulator designs, and without a doubt, they are the most famous company in this kind of high-precision watch. We have already shared the detailed history of regulator watches in this previous article.
The genius watchmaker Vianney Halter infuses his iconic design elements into the watch, drawing inspiration from science fiction and space. By merging these influences with his exceptional craftsmanship, he creates a truly distinctive timepiece. The Louis Erard Régulateur’s design seamlessly complements Halter’s signature split-time subdials and the uniquely crafted bezel, adding a futuristic touch to the watch.
We’ve previously discussed Halter’s remarkable career and his unique designs. You can read the full article here.
The first collaboration was in 2020 with a groundbreaking watch. Recently, the unique piece from that first collaboration, made for Phillips auction, achieved a world record, selling for $16,700. This set a new milestone for this timepiece.
The round case is crafted from polished stainless steel, measuring 43 mm in diameter and 10.95 mm in thickness which is thinner than the previous edition. On the dial side, it features a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The transparent case back showcases the movement and is engraved with "Limited edition 1 of 178," emphasizing its exclusivity. The case is adorned with Vianney Halter's signature crenellated crown with red-gilt rivets and is water-resistant to 50 meters.
A special feature of the case is the bezel, which is not covered by sapphire. It displays 12 polished red-gilt 5N rivets around it as the hour indices, perfectly fitting with the dial's color scheme.
The dial showcases golden accents, with the chapter ring and counter rings in red-gilt, while the base is rhodium-plated and circular satin-brushed. The layout features Louis Erard's famous regulator design, but the setup here is unique, making the watch stand out. While we have seen vertical and horizontal regulators before, this diagonal setup is a first for Louis Erard watches. The hour counter is positioned at 11 o’clock, the central minutes hand at the center, and the seconds counter at 5 o’clock.
The indices and numbers are printed in black, while each subdial is surrounded by a railroad track. The Louis Erard logo is at 2 o’clock, and the Vianney Halter logo is at 8 o’clock. The dial is designed by Vianney Halter with his artistic identity evident throughout. The hands feature Vianney Halter’s signature design in blued steel.
The watch is powered by an automatic Sellita SW266-1, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and boasting a 38-hour power reserve. openworked oscillating weight with black lacquered Louis Erard symbol.
The watch comes with a Dark brown grained calf leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching, and a polished stainless steel pin buckle, itis limited to 178 piece only, priced at CHF 4,444 which is equivalent to 18,400 AED.
This collaboration has resulted in two versions, each distinguished by a unique dial color combinations. The version we have is exclusive to the Louis Erard website and features a rhodium-plated dial base with gold-plated subdials. In contrast, the dealer-exclusive version showcases a gold-plated dial base with rhodium-plated subdials.
