Waqt Platform's Highlights from Geneva Watch Days 2023
Geneva Watch Days, the annual horological showcase, returned in 2023 with a grander spectacle, hosting 40 elite watch brands. Deemed by many, including us at Waqt Platform, as a close second only to the esteemed Dubai Watch Week, the fair was a delightful amalgamation of heritage, innovation, and artistry. We were fortunate enough not only to visit this captivating event but also to cover it live, sharing the magic of watchmaking with our dedicated followers.
From the myriad of timepieces unveiled, our team has meticulously selected five standout watches that encapsulate the spirit of innovation and timeless elegance the event represented. Here's a closer look at our top picks:
Venturing for the first time into carbon, the Octo Finissimo makes a statement. While slightly thicker than its titanium predecessor, the anthracite-colored carbon case is feather-light. Its opulent touch of gold melded with the carbon texture gifts it a unique blend of elegance, sportiness, and a dash of panache. This 40mm wonder, with a solid gold movement, boasts rose-gold markers, hands, and a sub-dial artfully positioned between six and nine o’clock. Crowned with a black ceramic insert, its daily wear is ensured by a 100m water resistance. To know more about the watch click here.
A refreshing departure from the usual, Jacob & Co. introduces a classical piece echoing elegance in every detail. The cobalt blue lacquered dial replicates the globe, accentuated by an 18-karat rose gold map overlay. This masterpiece, inspired by a Wakmann watch presented to Jacob Arabo by his father, marks a generational collaboration between Jacob, his father Nisan, and son Benjamin. Dual time zones, three sub-dials, and a central windrose compass make this watch a culmination of aesthetics and functionality. To know more about the watch click here.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic George Daniels pocket watch, Bernhard Lederer meticulously refines the escapement and introduces a remontoir d’égalité for each gear train. The 44mm masterpiece is available in pink gold with a black rhodium dial or a 904L steel variant that sports a "Pacific" blue hue, both adorned with dual sapphire crystals. To know more about the watch click here.

Arnold and Son bring forth a revamped caliber, redefined details, and a compact design for their dial-side dead-beat second. Available in both pink gold and platinum, this 42mm timepiece stands out with its sunray brushed dials. While both shades—salmon for platinum and blue for rose gold—are exquisite, the blue subtly edges out as our favorite.
A harmonious blend of the DB28XP's sleek frame and the magnetic blue hue from DB28 Kind of Blue, this timepiece is a testament to De Bethune's craftsmanship. Adorned with floating lugs and a crown at 12 o'clock, it fits the wrist seamlessly. This lightweight 43mm piece comes with a power reserve lasting six days and is an embodiment of finesse. To know more about the watch click here.
Looking back at Geneva Watch Days, it's clear how much skill and creativity goes into making watches. All of them show just how amazing watchmaking can be.
