Introducing The Tonda PF Xiali Calendar by Parmigiani Fleurier
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
The indie brand captivates us once again with its intricate releases
Cyrus Genève's story began in 2010 as an independent Swiss brand, operating its manufacturing facility in Le Locle under the guidance of the skilled master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon. The brand is known for its double crown watches and their intricate 3D dials, as well as its innovative methods of presenting various complications.
On the occasion of Watches And Wonders 2024, Cyrus Genève unveils the new Ethereal collection, which marks the brand's first round-case timepiece. The Ethereal collection epitomizes the brand’s zenith of horological artistry, embodying a seamless fusion of traditional watchmaking and innovative design, with a focus on futuristic aesthetics that evoke an ethereal presence. Inspired by both natural and cosmic beauty, it mirrors the patterns, rhythms, and elements observed in the universe and nature, hinting at a profound connection to the broader world and a more expansive perspective. The "Twin Orbital Tourbillon" is the inaugural piece of the Ethereal collection, a timepiece that seamlessly merges ultramodern style with avant-garde mechanics.
As mentioned earlier, the collection distinguishes itself with its round case, departing from the cushion shape seen in earlier releases. The "Twin Orbital Tourbillon" is housed in a 4N rose gold case with grade 5 titanium inserts on the lugs, boasting a diameter of 44 mm (excluding the crowns and inserts) and a thickness of 16.3 mm. The crown at 3 o'clock serves dual purposes: in position 1, it winds the movement, while in position 2, it adjusts the time. Meanwhile, the crown at 9 o'clock allows for rapid hour increments with a simple press of the pusher. Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, ensuring optimal visibility in any lighting condition. Flip the watch over, and you'll find a sapphire crystal case back also coated with anti-reflective treatment and secured with 8 titanium screws.
The moving open-worked dial features a jumping hour indication presented by two discs resembling truncated cones with an inclination angle of 18°. These are topped by a distinctively polished triangular minute hand with curved arms, one tip adorned with white Super-LumiNova, emitting a blue glow. Regardless of the dial's rotation, the time remains horizontally readable, unaffected by the positioning of its components. Additionally, two flying tourbillons take center stage, appearing to be suspended in mid-air in a captivating display with clockwise rotation on a frame, completing its rotation in one minute. The dial showcases utmost finishes, from the black PVD finish on the frame bridge to the tetrahedral motifs and the gilded bridges of the tourbillon cages.
The watch is powered by a new hand-wound movement, caliber CYR518-E, featuring a regulating organ operating at 21,600 vph (3Hz), and ensuring a 72-hour power reserve thanks to its two barrels. The case back features a power-reserve indicator positioned at an angle, which undergoes a color transition from white to black and eventually to red as the power reserve depletes. Additionally, there are the frosted barrel ratchet wheels coated in black PVD and engraved with the Cyrus logo.
The “Twin Orbital Tourbillon” is limited to 18 pieces and comes with a hand-stitched black alligator leather strap, with a new design for the pin buckle in 4N rose gold with grade 5 titanium inserts.
